St. Sava Orthodox School Guidelines
St. Sava Orthodox School is dedicated to providing a high-quality academic program in a safe, nurturing, and Orthodox Christian environment. We strive to help each student grow spiritually, morally, and intellectually to their fullest potential.
Below is a summary of key school guidelines. For detailed information, including additional policies, please refer to our Parent & Student Handbook (also available under the Parent & Student section). We encourage you to review the handbook thoroughly to familiarize yourself with our rules and expectations.
General Guidelines
School Hours

School starts at 8:30 AM and ends at 3:30 PM.

Drop-off is from 8:00 AM to 8:20 AM, and pick-up is from 3:30 PM to 3:45 PM.

Preschool K3 and K4 Half-Day students are dismissed at 11:30 AM.

If you are walking your child into school you must park in the parking lot.
Parking & Drop-off Procedures

The circular drive around the Cathedral is for drop-off and pick-up only.
-
No parking, double parking, or idling in the circular drive during drop-off and pick-up times.
Pickup Procedure

To ensure student safety, authorized individuals must present a name card when picking up students.

Name card will be provided to each authorized person during Welcome Back night. If the authorized person does not have the name card, the child will not be released from school.
New Student Requirements

New students may enroll throughout the year, depending on available space in the classrooms.

Official registrations will be published accordingly.

Please refer to the Parent & Student Handbook for detailed admission requirements for new students entering Preschool (K3, K4, K5) and grades 1–8.
Classroom Supplies

A supply list is provided for each grade and subject.

You may drop off supplies during Welcome Back night.

Uniform Guidelines
-
Shirts/Blouses: Solid white, powder blue, or navy blue long or short-sleeved styles, Knit polo shirts with a collar.
-
Sweaters: (crew, V-neck, or cardigan) - Must be navy, powder blue, or white. No other colors allowed.

Pants/Shorts/Skirts/Dresses: Navy blue, khaki brown or corduroy (no denim) knee length. When attending church, middle school girls must wear knee length skirts or longer (if no navy knee length skirt available, other colored skirts can be worn).

Tights: White, powder blue, navy blue or nude/tan. Must be worn at all times.

Dress Shoes – Black, brown, or blue; must be closed-toed, securely fastened, and safe for school activities. (No open-toed sandals, backless shoes, clogs, crocs, or slippers).
Spirit Day
-
Every Thursday is Spirit Day. Students are allowed to wear any of the following: jeans, corduroy pants, St. Sava School t-shirts, and tennis shoes. Pants and shorts must be appropriate length and look neat (no holes, rips, fraying, etc.) In case the liturgy is scheduled for Thursday, the spirit day will be on Friday that week. If the students are having a field trip, they can wear their spirit apparel instead of their uniform shirt/polo
Absence Policy

If your child is unable to attend school (for any reason), you need to inform the classroom teacher on a daily basis by e-mail, text or call the school’s phone and leave a message. Students should stay home if they show any of the following symptoms:

Fever of 100°F or higher

A productive cough
-
Purulent (green, yellow, thick or otherwise unusual) nasal or eye drainage

Diarrhea (liquid, colored stools)
-
Skin rashes/eruptions
-
Strep throat, sore throat, red throat, swollen glands around the jaws, ears, or neck
-
Earache, severe stomachache, severe headache
-
Nausea, vomiting, or recurrent vomiting
-
Lethargy, general complaints of muscular aches and pains
-
Head lice
-
Before & After School Program
-
We offer before and after school care from 7:30–8:00 AM and 3:45–4:45 PM (Monday through Friday). The cost is $10 per 30 minutes. Any child not picked up by 3:45 p.m. will be sent to the after-school program, regardless of age or grade level.

If your child requires before and after school care, please indicate this on your online enrollment registration form or contact the Principal directly.
Tuition & Sibling Discounts

Tuition rates are designed to be affordable while emphasizing Orthodox Christian values. Additional funding comes from fundraising, donations, and scholarships. Parents are encouraged to participate in fundraising activities and support the financial needs of the school. Tuition payments are expected to be made on time. To obtain info on student tuition please refer to the Tuition Agreement.

Sibling discounts are provided to families with more than one child attending the School during the same school year. Discounts apply to tuition only. They are as follows: the second child receives a 10% discount; the third child receives a 15% discount; the fourth child’s tuition is free.

Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)

The PTO helps enhance the educational experience by organizing events, fundraisers, and programs.
